International Students

Kerrimuir Primary School is committed to the promotion of international understanding and cultural respect within our School and in the wider community.

We have an established International Student program designed to offer support and assistance whilst integrating international students among their peers. Kerrimuir Primary School provides students with small class numbers wherever possible, EAL (English as an Additional Language) classes, the opportunity to meet school families speaking the same language (where possible), a multi-cultural aide who speaks Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese) and a secure and safe location.

We welcome students from around the world and are delighted to offer a study program to support their academic success and wellbeing whilst in Melbourne.

Accreditation

Victorian Government schools delivering programs to fee paying international students holding a subclass 571 student visa require accreditation.

There are almost 200 Victorian Government schools (primary and secondary) accredited to deliver high quality programs to fee paying international students (students holding a subclass 571 visa).

The Department has established a robust Quality Assurance Framework that includes a School Accreditation System, Quality Standards, Review Program and School Resource Kit which provide schools with a policy framework for the delivery of high quality programs to international students.

The accreditation system ensures that international students receive a high quality education experience through a high level of support and care in a safe, welcoming and engaging learning environment.

Requirements

All primary-aged International students must be living with a parent and attend 80% of all school days.
