Attendance, Early Leave & Late Arrivals
When your child arrives to school late, they must first attend the school office to collect a late pass.
If you are picking your child up early, or during the school day for an appointment, please go to the office first to collect an early leave pass before taking your child from school premises.
Important
Schools are legally responsible for your child between 8:45am and 3:45pm once they have been marked on the roll. If your child is absent from school, please mark them absent on Compass before 9:30am.
Student Records
The need to have up to date information about your child is of paramount importance. This is particularly in the case of an emergency.
Student records will be sent home at the start of each year and need to be returned promptly. If during the year there are any changes to information given initially (name, address, phone numbers, emergency contact numbers etc.) please notify the school of these changes immediately.
Medication
Some children attending school need medication to manage illnesses throughout the day. Before medication can be given, parents need to consult with the office and then supply medication in a container which states:
- The name of the child
- The dose
- The time the medication is to be given
It is advisable to notify your child's classroom teacher as well. Parents must give written authority for staff to administer medication.
Asthma & Anaphylaxis
Children who have asthma or anaphylaxis require an asthma or anaphylaxis management plan prepared by a doctor. Please obtain a form from the office.
SunSmart
The danger period for UV rays is between 10:00am and 2:00pm (11:00am and 3:00pm daylight saving time) when damage to children's skin can occur in as little as ten minutes.
Children are asked to bring a hat and sunscreen to school to leave in their tub or bag so they are available for use at any time.
School Policy
All students must wear hats when outdoors during Term 1 and Term 4. Please ensure that your child has a sun-smart, school hat.
Head Lice
Head lice are tiny unwelcome insects, which enjoy living in people's hair. Head lice rapidly spread from person to person and for this reason we urge you to check your child's hair on a weekly basis.
If you find lice in your child's hair, you must treat them and eradicate the live lice before your child can return to school.
Note: Head lice actually prefer clean hair so this is not due to a lack of hygiene.
Conditioner and Comb Treatment
As recommended by numerous Australian health sites
- 1Apply conditioner to dry hair, covering from root to tip
- 2Detangle the hair using an ordinary comb
- 3Immediately comb the hair with a fine-tooth comb (metal combs with long rounded teeth are far more effective than plastic combs)
- 4Wipe the conditioner off the comb onto a tissue and look for lice and eggs
- 5Repeat combing for every part of the head 5 times
- 6Examine the comb for lice and eggs
First Aid / Sick Children
If your child is ill, please keep them home. Your child will recover much faster at home and be able to return to school refreshed and ready for learning.
If your child does become ill during the school day, they will be taken to the school sick bay. At this time you will be contacted to come and take your child home.
Emergency Contacts
It is extremely important that we have an emergency contact number. If we cannot contact you personally, we require an alternative person that you can nominate, who is able to collect your child in your absence.
If you have shared custody, you need to notify us in writing of the arrangements to be made if your child becomes ill during the day.
Please do not send your child to school if they are unwell. We do not have the facilities or personnel to cope with sick children.
When you arrive to collect your sick child, please go to the office to collect an early leave pass before taking your child home.
Exclusions from School - Infectious Diseases
Every child enrolling at school for the first time is now required to present an Immunisation History Statement obtainable from the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR). A statement can be printed from your myGov account or contact AIR for a copy.
A sick child's place is at home. The school is not able to handle illnesses.

Dental Health - Smile Squad
Smile Squadis the Victorian government's free school dental program.
Smile Squad delivers free oral health promotion, dental check-ups and treatment to Victorian government school students at school. Good oral health prevents dental problems before they become serious.
Smile Squad helps students stay engaged in school and ready to learn.
