Kerrimuir’s “buddy program’ is a structured human relations program where Prep students meet regularly with a senior buddy and together they work on activities that develop positive relationships and social interaction. Usually the activities are centred around a current theme.
On the playground, buddies offer friendship and a helping hand where required.
Most importantly, the buddy system assists the new Prep child to settle in and become familiar with faces outside of their classroom environment. It also requires the senior primary students to be aware of and offer leadership and responsibility for others within the school.
Creating a Learning Community C.A.L.C
All students in Grades P-6 will be participle in a program titled 'Creating a Learning Community'. We strive to create a stimulating, orderly and cooperative working environment for all children in our classrooms. It is very important to lay the ground rules, establish procedures and build the structure of the classroom for the year.
Our aims:
· to create a climate and tone of warmth and safety.
· to define expectations and practice them.
· to introduce students to the physical environment and materials of the classroom and the school, and teach students to use and care for them.
· to establish expectations about ways the class will learn together in the year ahead.
We believe that time spent establishing the building blocks for good learning will pay dividends throughout the year.

The organisation of resources and computerised system are part of the library skills development program. All children are timetabled for one lesson weekly where they are guided in developing an appreciation of literature and in practising research skills.
The Library also serves as a major resource centre for teachers.
Walking School Bus
What is a Walking Bus?
A walking school bus is a bus powered not by an engine, but by legs! Children don't sit inside this bus - they walk in a group to school, with an adult 'Driver' in front and an adult 'Conductor' at the rear, they are the bus! Children have a central meeting point and walk to school. The bus travels along a set route, picking up children along the way who are not able to meet at the starting point.
