Attendance
Our
school hours are 9.00 – 3.30. The most significant
change to our school hours are the bell times for
recess.
11.00 –
11.30 morning play, 1.00 – 1.10 eating bell and 1.10 –
200 lunch play.
Please
ensure the children are at school at least 10 minutes
prior to the bell so they are able to go to the toilet,
have a drink and prepare to commence for work.
Latecomers are
required to go to the office to obtain a late pass
before entering class.
If you
need to collect your child from class during the day
please obtain a note from the office before going to the
classroom to collect your child. This note will inform
teachers that permission has been gained from the office
and the reason for the early departure.
Absences
When a
child is absent parents need to provide a written or
verbal explanation regarding their child’s absence.
If the
absence is for, or likely to be for, a period exceeding
five school days, please notify the school with
particulars as soon as possible either prior to the
absence or within the first five days of absence.
If a child is to be taken out of school for a lengthy
period of time (e.g. holidays), the principal and class
teacher should be notified in writing.
The health and well-being of
your child is of vital concern to our staff. It is
therefore helpful to them to know when your child
becomes ill and the type of illness contracted.
Early communication by
telephone or letter can greatly assist teachers to
provide support to your child and make decisions
relating to the welfare of others.
The best place for a sick
child is at home!

Assemblies
A
patriotic ceremony is conducted at 9.00 each Monday on
the asphalt at the front of the school.
Friday
morning assembly is conducted in the multi-purpose room
between 9-930 each week. This assembly is an
opportunity for children to perform and participate in
community singing. Parents are welcome to attend all
assemblies and there is a morning tea for parents
following assembly.

Discipline
In order
for effective learning to occur, good discipline within
the classroom and throughout the entire school
environment is very important. We teach our students to
show respect for themselves, other people and the school
as a whole. The school administration will support and
assist classroom teachers and parents with regards to
problems that may arise.

If you need to collect your
child from school at an earlier time, please go to the
office first and sign the Early Dismissal Book. You
will be given a white slip of paper to take to your
child's teacher. If someone other than the persons
listed as parent/guardians or emergency contact on your
child's enrolment form is to pick your child up early -
please contact the office to advise of this. Please
note that picking your child up during recess and
lunchtime is not recommended, as children are difficult
to locate. We are unable to allow any child to
walk home alone during the day.

Excursions and special
events are an important part of the school
program. Teachers carefully plan the introductory and
follow up lessons. Please support these activities.
No child can be taken on an excursion unless a parent's
signed approval form has been given to the
teacher. Please return forms and money as early as
possible. We do however ask you to sign a "local
excursion form" which covers local excursions (within
walking distance to the school) where no cost is
incurred.

If your child is absent from
school, please send a note of explanation to your
child's teacher, or ring the school. This is a legal
obligation.
If the absence is for, or
likely to be for, a period exceeding five school days,
please notify the school with particulars as soon as
possible within the first five days of absence.
If a child is to be taken out of school for a lengthy
period of time (e.g. holidays), the principal and class
teacher should be notified in writing.
Please do not send your child if they are not well.

CURRICULUM DAYS
Provision is made by the Department of Education for
four student free days per year to allow for
professional development, curriculum planning and
reporting. School Council approves the date of each of
these days and parents are notified of these dates
through the School Newsletter. Students do not attend
school on these days.
When there is sufficient demand ie between 12 - 15
children, the school operates a curriculum day child
care program. Information regarding registration and
program content is distributed through the school
newsletter.

Items not to
be brought to school
Please do not send the
following items to school with your child:
Valuable
articles;
Fragile articles;
Anything which cannot be cared for by the child;
Chewing gum or bubble gum;
Toys that represent violence including guns, swords and
knives;
Roller skates, roller blades and skateboards;
Large earrings - children with pierced ears should wear
studs or sleepers only.

Lost property
All articles of
clothing and belongings (lunch boxes, flasks, school
bags, pencils, balls, personal toys etc) brought to
school need to be clearly marked with the owner's name.
Lost garments and possessions
not labelled often find their way to the Lost Property
area. At the end of each term, unclaimed items are
donated to charity. The Lost Property Box is housed in
the Library.
The school cannot monitor
valuable items coming to school - the school takes no
responsibility for loss, therefore precious toys and
expensive electronic games etc. should not be brought to
school.
Supervision
Yard Duty
There are always teachers in
the yard before school from 8:45am, at recess and lunch
time, and after school until 3:45pm, to supervise the
children. Occasionally, as in any play situation,
accidents occur. Any superficial injuries will be
attended to by the teacher in charge of first aid. You
will be contacted if any head trauma or serious injury
occurs.
Lunch
Lunches are eaten in the
classroom from 1.00 -1.10pm. Teachers supervise lunch.
Lunch boxes and drink bottles should be labelled.
There is a canteen
for lunches. A
lunch price list
will be sent home early in term one. Children are not
permitted to buy their lunch at the local shops. For
safety reasons glass drink containers are not permitted.
We recommend that children not be given excessive
amounts of money to spend at the canteen. Children are
encouraged to bring a nutritional light snack for
morning recess.
Wet Weather
On wet days and extremely hot
days, children remain in the classroom during recesses.
Teachers share the supervision of the children in the
classroom. Please ensure children come appropriately
dressed for varying weather conditions ie: coat for
rainy days.

Transferring
If you
are moving house and/or transferring your child to
another school please contact the school to initiate
transfer procedures.

All visitors to the school,
during school hours, must sign the school register.
(housed outside the school office) and wear a visitor
lanyard throughout their stay.
